Terms of Use

Last updated: 22 August 2026

These Terms of Use (the "Terms") form a binding agreement between you and Unicore Digital Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 17292426, with its registered office at 27 Old Gloucester Street, London, WC1N 3AX, United Kingdom ("ProofMyText", "we", "us"). They govern your access to proofmytext.com and every tool, page, and API we make available there (the "Service").

By creating an account, submitting text, or paying for a plan, you confirm that you have read these Terms and that you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the Service.

1. Who may use the Service

You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service, and at least 18 years old to purchase a paid plan. If you use the Service on behalf of a school, business, or other organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to accept these Terms for that organisation, and "you" then refers to both you and that organisation.

You may not use the Service if you are subject to sanctions or located in a country subject to a comprehensive UK, EU, or US embargo.

2. What the Service does

ProofMyText provides three tools:

  • AI Detector. It estimates the statistical likelihood that a piece of text, and each sentence inside it, was produced by a language model, and returns a score together with a per-sentence breakdown.
  • AI Humanizer. A Pro feature that rewrites text you supply, changing phrasing, rhythm, and structure while trying to preserve meaning.
  • Grammar Check. It flags spelling, grammar, and style issues and proposes corrections.

We may add, change, or retire features. If we retire a feature that is material to a paid plan, we will tell you in advance by email and, if you no longer want the plan, you may cancel and receive a pro rata refund for the unused part of the current billing period.

3. Detection results are probabilistic, not proof

This section is important, so please read it carefully.

  • An AI detection score is a statistical estimate. It is not a measurement, a certification, or evidence that a specific person did or did not write a specific text.
  • All AI detectors, including ours, produce false positives and false negatives. Human writing can be flagged as machine generated, and machine generated writing can pass as human. Non-native English writing, highly formulaic text, technical writing, and very short samples are especially prone to misclassification.
  • You must not treat a ProofMyText score as the sole basis for an academic penalty, a disciplinary decision, a hiring or firing decision, a grade, a publication decision, or any other action that affects a person. Always combine it with human judgement, context, and a conversation with the author.
  • We accept no responsibility for decisions you or anyone else takes on the basis of a score.

4. No guarantee about the Humanizer

We do not promise, and we cannot promise, that text rewritten with the AI Humanizer will receive any particular score from our own detector or from any third party detector, now or in the future. No tool on the market can guarantee that outcome. Detection models are retrained frequently, they behave differently on different subject matter, and results vary between providers.

Any score, percentage, or example shown in our marketing, in the product, or in support conversations is an illustration of past behaviour, not a commitment about your text. The Humanizer is offered as a writing and editing aid. You are responsible for reading, checking, and standing behind whatever you publish or submit.

5. Acceptable use

The Service exists to help people understand and improve their writing. You agree not to use it, and not to let anyone else use your account, to:

  • commit academic misconduct, including submitting work as your own where your school, university, examination board, or course rules prohibit undisclosed use of AI writing or AI assisted editing;
  • misrepresent the authorship or origin of a text to an employer, a client, a publisher, a certification body, a court, or a public authority, where doing so is prohibited, deceptive, or unlawful;
  • evade a disclosure obligation, an honour code, a licence condition, or a contractual term that requires you to declare AI involvement;
  • create or spread disinformation, spam, fake reviews, impersonation content, harassment, or content that sexualises minors;
  • upload text you have no right to process, including confidential, export controlled, or third party material you are not licensed to share;
  • reverse engineer, scrape, resell, or systematically extract the Service or its outputs, run automated traffic outside a documented API arrangement, or circumvent usage limits, rate limits, or authentication;
  • interfere with the Service, probe it for vulnerabilities without written permission, or use it to build or train a competing detection or rewriting model.

Rules about AI assistance differ between institutions, jurisdictions, and even individual courses or clients. It is your responsibility, not ours, to know the rules that apply to you and to follow them. We provide a tool. How you use it, and any consequence of that use, is yours to carry.

If we reasonably believe your use breaches this section, we may suspend or terminate your account, with or without notice, and refuse a refund for the remainder of the period where the law allows.

6. Accounts and security

You sign in with a one time magic link sent to your email address, so your inbox is your credential. Keep it secure, do not forward sign in links, and tell us at support@proofmytext.com if you believe your account has been accessed by someone else. Accounts are personal and may not be shared, sold, or transferred.

You are responsible for everything that happens under your account until you tell us it has been compromised.

7. Free tier and usage limits

You can run a limited number of detections without an account, and a larger monthly word allowance once you register. Current limits are shown on the pricing page and in the product. Free access is provided as is, may be rate limited, and may change or end at any time.

Creating multiple accounts, or using proxies or automation, to get around free tier limits is a breach of these Terms.

8. Paid plans

Pro is a recurring subscription billed through Stripe at $12 per month or $96 per year. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Billing, renewal, cancellation, price changes, and refunds are covered in full by our Subscription Terms, which form part of this agreement.

9. Your content and our content

You keep all rights in the text you submit and in the rewritten output you receive. We claim no ownership over either.

You grant us a limited, non exclusive licence to process, store, and transmit your text strictly to operate the Service for you: to produce a report, to run a rewrite or grammar check, to display your history, and to investigate abuse or technical faults. We do not use your text to train AI models, we do not sell it, and we do not publish it. See the Privacy Policy for retention periods and subprocessors.

The Service itself, including our software, interface, wordmark, and documentation, belongs to Unicore Digital Ltd and its licensors. These Terms grant you a personal, revocable, non transferable right to use the Service, and nothing more.

10. Third party services

We rely on third party providers for hosting, authentication, payments, detection, rewriting, and grammar analysis. Their availability and behaviour are outside our control. Where a provider suffers an outage or changes its models, the Service may be degraded or interrupted. The current list of providers is published in the Privacy Policy.

11. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the Service available, but we do not offer a service level guarantee on standard plans. We may perform maintenance, deploy updates, or impose temporary limits to protect capacity.

We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we will give at least 14 days notice by email or in product before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after that date means you accept the new Terms. If you do not, you may cancel and stop using the Service.

12. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided on an as is and as available basis. We do not warrant that detection scores are accurate, that rewritten text is free of errors, that grammar suggestions are correct, or that the Service will be uninterrupted or secure. Outputs are generated by statistical models and must be reviewed by a human before use.

Nothing in these Terms limits your statutory rights as a consumer under UK or EU law.

13. Liability

We do not exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

Subject to that, we are not liable for lost profits, lost opportunities, lost data, reputational harm, academic or disciplinary outcomes, or any indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability arising out of or in connection with the Service in any 12 month period is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in that period or $100.

You agree to indemnify us against claims brought by third parties that arise from your breach of these Terms or from your use of the Service, including any claim connected with how you presented or submitted text processed through the Service.

14. Suspension, termination, and closing your account

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from account settings, or by emailing us. Deleting your account cancels any active subscription at the end of the paid period and removes your stored text as described in the Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these Terms, that creates a security or legal risk, or that we are required to act on by law. Sections covering content licences, disclaimers, liability, and governing law survive termination.

15. Governing law and contact

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident in the EU or elsewhere, you keep the benefit of any mandatory protections and any right to bring proceedings in your country of residence.

Questions about these Terms go to support@proofmytext.com, or by post to Unicore Digital Ltd, 27 Old Gloucester Street, London, WC1N 3AX, United Kingdom.
